An Overview of HKEX’s Climate-related Disclosure Requirements and the Proposed Sustainability Assurance Framework in Hong Kong- Guest Speaker at the HKICPA Listing Company Workshop

Our Director of Risk Advisory Management, Ms. Sabrina Lam, had the honor of being invited as a speaker by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) to deliver an essential webinar on the rapidly evolving ESG regulatory landscape.

The webinar, titled "An Overview of HKEX’s Climate-related Disclosure Requirements and the Proposed Sustainability Assurance Framework in Hong Kong" focused on the upcoming phased implementation of the HKEX climate disclosure rules effective from 1 January 2025. During the session, Ms. Lam provided a comprehensive breakdown of the new framework’s four core pillars—Governance, Strategy, Risk Management, and Metrics and Targets—aligned with the IFRS S2 standards.

Through practical market examples and actionable insights, Ms. Lam shared her expertise on navigating complex compliance challenges. She addressed the critical steps for drafting credible corporate climate transition plans and overcoming technical hurdles in Scope 3 value-chain emissions calculations. Additionally, the session covered how to quantify climate-related financial impacts using scenario analysis and how to properly prepare for the emerging sustainability assurance framework in Hong Kong.
